We're all up in the "Web 2.0" these days. WTF does that mean? That's just a lame way of saying that we're all over the social networking sites. You can become a fan on Facebook or follow along on Twitter. We also post our pictures on Flickr, if you ever want to check those out. And we have an old fashioned email newsletter. You can subscribe to that by emailing us smu [dot] womenscentre [at] gmail [dot] com with "newsletter" in the subject.
So far, we haven't made it over to MySpace...but maybe we will. Do people really use MySpace? I have no idea. I think I'm too old for it. It's so busy and there's blinky stuff and music playing on pages. It hurts my brain in the same way that watching MuchMusic or MTV does (I used to watch MuchMusic religiously when I was a teenager). I really think it has to do with what you grow up with. I started using the internet in 1996 and I had a super lame angelfire page. Pretty much all websites were lame in 1996.
Interestingly, the CBC radio show Spark just posted about how there may or may not be a difference between "cyber natives" and "cyber immigrants". I'm inclined to think there is, which is why I take forever to catch on to things on the internet or find things overwhelming. Meanwhile, people younger than me are all, "whatever, internet is awesome" and my mom is all, "facebooks? how does that work? why would you let people read that?"
Anyway, if you have any suggestions of sites we should be using, leave a comment. In fact, leave a comment even if you don't have a suggestion. We want to hear from you. What should we have on this blog? Anything you think we should write about in particular? Send us ideas or suggestions. It gets lonely out here in cyberspace.
